Why the hype?

Yeah, i know Apple is such a huge brand. But i still need to seriously question the super-hype of iPhone all over the world.

iPhone was being sold today. Over 1,000 people (on a weekday ... jobless or what?) were waiting in line to take the iPhones that they had ordered a monthly ago. Dominating the initial market of iPhone, 3 Hutchison bundled a stiff-priced monthly fee with the purchase of iPhone. Let alone the long airtime contract. The question is: Why the hype with this oh-so-damned-overpriced phone?

Comparing iPhone's specs with other smartphones', i found that iPhone is a reasonable buy ONLY IF it's priced in the upper-$4,000. OK, i'll give Apple the brand a premium and make it mid-$5,000. I have no idea about the final sum of money people need to pay for the "genuine" iPhone with the contract and such, but "water" goods are found everywhere at Sin Tat at the upper-$6,000 range.

Again, why the hype? I'd admit i have had real bad experience with Apple's products. But all things being constant, iPhone's specs really don't deserve the price at which it is being sold now.

Maybe it's just me ... hane i told u i'm the OUT group in HK?
